{Q:} Where will my photo session take place? Do you have a studio?
{A:} Yes! The Hannah McMahon Studio is located in Downtown Dover, lovingly referred to as our “Latchkey Location” given that our entrance is unsuspecting, but our studio is like walking into an oasis! We’re smack in the middle of town next to town hall, with designated parking in the rear of the building. Our secluded second story suite offers stunnninnnngggg natural light, and a newly renovated 1600 sq foot suite with interior offices allows for complete privacy while you are here. It’s a cozy, boho, chic, heavenly oasis.
{Q:} I'm really not comfortable with being photographed nearly nude, but I really want you to photograph me. Is that a possibility?
{A:} HUNNAY YES. While we work with women in various levels of undress, you are always in control of what you are comfortable with! We can create stunning portraits with flowing fabrics, a simple cozy sweater, or even your favorite pair of jeans,.
{Q:} What should I wear?
{A:} I get asked this, without fail, every time someone books their session. And it’s a great question! There are 4 “looks” that I gravitate towards.
Lingerie- there are a million options (literally). Teddys, sets, bodysuits, stockings, etc, etc, etc. There are SO many options! These kinds of outfits can be sexy, and bold, but also soft and beautiful.
Sweaters, sleeve, and shirts- LOVE me an oversized sweater. Like, besides the fact that I could live in them, they photograph so beautifully. Besides those, we love anything that moves with you, and love all the sleeves!
Nudes or implied nudes- just like it sounds! Maybe we use a bed sheet, maybe some flows fabric, maybe nothing at all. It’s totally up to you, and you might surprise yourself with what feels comfortable once we are in your session.
{Q:} Can I have someone with me at my session?
{A:} Yes! Your bestie can be the perfect cheerleader for your session, and can be just what you need to calm your nerves, or share your excitement. You are more than welcome to bring one friend with you to your session, but limit it to that. Wanna one up that?! Book your sessions back to back so you can step back and cheer her on right after your own session!
{Q:} On which days of the week can I have my photo session?
{A:} Sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday, with sessions held in the mornings or early afternoons. We open one Saturday a month for additional sessions which typically book out months in advance.
{Q:} What should I do to prepare?
{A:} As long as you can read, you’re good to go! After your booking your session you’ll receive a comprehensive guide on how and when to prepare for your session. It will walk you though what to wear and where to shop, how to prepare for your hair and makeup styling, and even what to pack in your bag to get ready for your session.
{Q:} How much can you “edit out”?
{A:} The scale on editing in this industry can range from high fashion perfection to changing nothing at all. I fall somewhere in the modest middle- to me, it is SO important to create images right through my camera, lighting, and posing that you will love. My editing philosophy is honor your body. We may remove non-permanent blemishes or imperfections, or even small scars upon request, but never edit out something that’s a permanent part of you.
We’re here to be part of your empowerment story, not try to change you into someone else.
{Q:} Do my images have to be shared online?
{A:} NO. You absolutely do not. In fact, you actually don’t have to make a choice about that until you see your images. I understand that some women wish to maintain their privacy or are simply restricted by their jobs with what they are free to post. It’s my job to protect and respect your privacy, however you wish to display or not display your images. You have complete control of how and where your images are shared. You can choose to have your images shared publicly, shared only on print as samples in the studio, shared only anonymously (images that don’t reveal your identity) or not at all. Moral of the story is, it’s up to you, and I respect that.
{Q:} Do you photograph men?
{A:} I haven’t, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t. Right now, my wheelhouse is empowering women, but maybe someday that will extend to the men too. Though, if Channing Tatum asked, I probably wouldn’t say no.
{Q:} Do you still shoot weddings, families, etc??
{A:} No more weddings, but I do still photography families, with a focus on moms and babies. This is a studio where you can fiercely love your babies AND yourself, and I don’t think that those two things have to be mutually exclusive.

{Q:} Everyone you post looks like a model. Can I do this if I have no modeling experience?
{A:} Well first of all, thank you!! The short answer is YES. While the women on my instagram, facebook, and website may all look like bomb ass models, the truth is they aren’t. In fact, I have had MANY women come in and tell me “well I don’t really think my body is for boudoir.” Firsties, babe, that’s a load of pucky. If you are questioning if you have the body for boudoir, well just make sure you have a body (and I mean ANY body- big, small, tall, long, short, skinny, black, white, every freaking tone in between), then yeah, you have a body for boudoir,
Now that that’s out of the way, the model part- or more, the posing part. I love images that look effortlessly undone, but the truth of it is that I’ll coach you 100% of the way and often, it’s a little comical getting into certain poses. And by that, I mean comical watching me demonstrate and usually ends up with both of us laughing. Moral of the story is that I will coach you into ever pose every step of the way and you need absolutely no prior experience to have a stellar experience here.
{Q:} How far in advance should I book my session?
{A:} Currently we are fully booked for the next three months with the following months filling quickly. I highly recommend contacting the studio as soon as you know you want a session here to get a date that works for you! Our sessions are done Monday-Friday with one Saturday a month reserved for sessions. I recommend booking your session 6-8 weeks before any deadline you’re trying to meet- a wedding gift for your future husband or wife, or a particular holiday! Albums generally take 3-7 weeks to arrive while wall art arrives in 2-4 weeks. Digital copies, if purchased, are available immediately following following your ordering appointment once paid in full.
{Q:} What do your packages include? How much should I expect to spend?
{A:} The average invenstment for an empowerment session is $1500-4000.. Sessions are $350 to reserve your date and time, which include hair and makeup, a 2-3 hour photo shoot experience , wardrobe and styling expertise, a private viewing and ordering appointment, and professional retouching of your final images.. All artwork options (albums, luxe prints and folios) are availabale a la carte. Payment plans are available upon request, and we are happy to accommodate to alloy you more flexibility.
{Q:} When and how will I select my favorite images from my shoot?
{A:} I LOVE when you get to see your images for the first time! After your session is complete at the studio we will set a date and time for your ordering appointment, which will be set up for 1-2 weeks after your session. If you are traveling from out of state, we will schedule that while you are still in town.
This is personally my favorite part of every experience- we work SO hard during your session to skillfully create image that capture the beauty that is uniquely you. Sexy? Hell yeah. Bold? Coy? Playful, delicate, strong; there are so many things we want to portray during your session and this is the first time you get to see them, and that is not something I take lightly. At this appointment we will start with a slideshow, then let you compare images side by side to choose your favorites and how to display them. As if the session itself wasn’t good enough, this is you chance to celebrate YOU!
